How To Be in Control When You Eat Out

If you don’t want a plateful of hidden calories make sure you don’t get them by speaking up and clarifying what you want.

Here are some tips:

Give VERY specific instructions on how you want your food prepared.

Don’t be afraid to ask for no sauces and skip the “pre-made” salad dressings. Request olive oil and slices of limes or lemon instead.

Ask how things are prepared — it’s their job to answer your questions, you’re paying them to be an expert and deliver to you exactly what you want.

Avoid Refined Carbohydrates!

These include grains that have been made “white” by stripping the germ and/or bran from the grain, white flour, white rice, white pasta and couscous.
Anything called “starch” – corn starch, modified food starch, etc.

Avoid grains that have been turned into flakes, puffs or shreds etc. Rarely are made from whole grains, but in any case are generally processed to the point where they are very glycemic.

Coconut Flour Pancakes

Ingredients
▪ 4 eggs, room temperature
▪ 1 cup coconut milk
▪ 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
▪ 1 tablespoon coconut nectar (coconut sap)
▪ 1/2 cup coconut flour
▪ 1 teaspoon baking soda
▪ 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
▪ 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
▪ Coconut oil for frying

Instructions
1. Preheat pan or griddle over medium-low heat. Beat eggs until frothy. Mix in milk, vanilla, and coconut nectar.
2. In a small bowl combine coconut flour, baking soda, sea salt and cinnamon and whisk together.
3. Combine dry mixture with wet mixture and blend or beat for about 30 seconds. Scrape down sides of bowl then mix for another minute or two or until the coconut flour is completely mixed into the batter.
4. Grease pan with coconut oil. Pour batter to create pancakes that are about 3 inches in diameter. If the batter seems too thin you may need to add a small amount of coconut flour to achieve the desired consistency.
5. Cook for approximately 3 minutes, flip and cook an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serve hot with coconut oil, coconut nectar, agave nectar, honey, syrup or fruit.

How to Burn Extra Calories

By tweaking your current workout it is possible to lose weight quicker.

Metabolic finishers take minutes and the metabolic after burn lasts hours. Some people do hours of cardio every week in the hope to lose fat but never get anywhere near the results they want. They even split their workouts into two so they do some exercise first thing on a morning and again in the evening, big mistake and a big waste of time!

A metabolic finisher at the end of your workout will help boost your progress and save you loads of time.

Do the following two exercises back to back for 3-5 rounds, resting for 30 seconds between rounds (or until your heart rate falls to 130 BPM).

Kettlebell Swings (20)
Walking Lunges with Rotation (16-24 steps)
Use a medicine ball or weight plate for resistance.

Procrastination

lose weight quick
Some people wonder why they never lose weight or change the way they look. We can be experts at making excuses and justifying our actions or should I say lack of actions.

“Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait. The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count.” –Robert Anthony

“Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.” –William James

“Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.” –Napoleon Hill

“Putting off an easy thing makes it hard. Putting off a hard thing makes it impossible.” –George Claude Lorimer

“Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and months turn into years and so on until one day it’ll be too late.” –Barnsley Personal Training Gym

Go For Quality Before Calories

Your body only knows nutrients contrary to what you may believe. If you only had a slice of cake and a slice of pizza both 500 calories each in a day it wouldn’t help you lose weight.

If this were the case there would be a lot more thin people especially those who live on low-calorie diets. A calorie in versus calories out approach is absurd! It may look like the right thing on paper but in reality and particularly in the long run it doesn’t work.

Your body sees foods as chemicals and nothing more. Restricting calories and getting the balance wrong and regularly including bad quality calories that can be found in processed foods forces your body to react. Before you know it the nutrients don’t get to where your body needs them and hormones are released to cope with the biological stress. This leads to muscle loss and a slow metabolism ending with you piling on the pounds.

Have You Tried Bodyweight Exercises?

Bodyweight exercises are a very convenient and challenging way to train. The places you can workout are limitless meaning you can save more time and do the things you want.

Most bodyweight exercises can be modified to suit individual strength levels. The important rule is to be patient and progress at your own speed until you master the technique.

With bodyweight training it is beneficial to change to more difficult exercises as soon as you can reach high reps.

TRX, Swiss balls and chin up bars can make bodyweight training even more challenging.
