Q: I Work Full-Time. How Do I Eat Healthy?

Answer:
It can seem overwhelming at first to change eating habits. Most people have success by taking small steps. However, nothing will ever work unless there is a plan in place. You need to remember that it doesn’t take any more time to eat a healthy meal than it does an unhealthy one. In addition you can buy healthy foods from the same shop that sells the unhealthy options. It all comes down to choices.

Commit at least 10 minutes every week planning your shopping list and meals for the upcoming week. It doesn’t matter how bland it is at the beginning. All that matters is that you eat healthy meals regularly and that you never go short of the right kind of foods. This should include mostly foods in their natural state. Stay clear of processed foods.

The quicker you do this the quicker you will see results. You’ll find that natural food choices will give you more energy throughout the rest of the day.

Psychological Barriers

I’ve seen many reasons why people never get results in the gym and with dieting. The root of the problem is nearly always psychological. This is normally justified by having some sort of excuse. The good news is this can be overcome by applying a little willpower.

How To Prevent Illness & Injury From Over Exercising

Exercise is beneficial for muscles and bones and helps to shape the body. Sufficient amounts maintain an optimal metabolic rate and helps support good health.

But over-exercising can be as bad for your health as not doing enough. This can cause immune system suppression, which can lead to upper respiratory infection, chronic fatigue and a number of other illnesses.

For best results become familiar with your body and see how it responds after each workout. If you’re feeling fatigued and not satisfied that you have fully recovered from the last workout either try an extra days rest or try reducing the exercise volume for the upcoming workout. This will help keep progression moving forwards without any lost days due to illness or injury through over training.

60 Abs Challenge

Here is a brilliant superset for abdominal muscles. You need a total gym or an incline sit up board for this. The exercises are incline reverse crunches immediately followed by incline sit-ups (old school sit ups – all the way up). The goal is to do ten reps on each exercise with no rest in-between sets. Aim for three rounds and try to get the maximum number of reps i.e. sixty.

If you can’t reach ten reps on any of the sets just move on to the other exercise and carry on. Add up your score at the end and try to beat it next time.

Don’t Believe The Hype

If you want to maintain a healthy bodyweight and high energy levels nothing substitutes a natural diet. There are thousands of products available that claim to do wonders for appearances and performance. Close inspections of these food supplements reveal a list of processed garbage.

If you want to spend good money on supplements go for quality. Good quality food supplements are few and far between. It is more practicable eating a balanced natural diet every day than you may think. Planning and becoming organised is the key.

Patience

There’s an old saying that patience is the greatest of all virtues. This is lost in today’s quick fix culture. You can always tell when people cut corners in any area of life. I tell people all the time that if they apply the eating guidelines I recommend and commit to regular workouts then results will follow.

“The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.”

Salt

It’s healthier to salt foods with unrefined sea salt. Refined white table salts often contain aluminium-based agents. Aluminium is linked with heavy metal toxicity and possibly Alzheimer’s disease.

Dextrose (a sugar) is another additive that can be found in table salt and is used in iodised salt (salt with iodine added) to keep the salt from turning purple. Other problems associated with chemicals found in table salt are kidney problems, mineral mal-absorption, elevated blood pressure, kidney disturbances and water retention.
